Protect
Zecretly puts a protected copy next to the original. Names, addresses, account numbers and similar details become placeholders such as [PERSON_1]. Amounts and dates are shifted or replaced, depending on the level.
Zecretly replaces details in your documents on your computer before you share them, and puts them back afterwards.
Zecretly puts a protected copy next to the original. Names, addresses, account numbers and similar details become placeholders such as [PERSON_1]. Amounts and dates are shifted or replaced, depending on the level.
You share the protected copy, for example with an AI. It contains only placeholders and shifted values, not your real details.
You open the answer with Zecretly again. The local case file puts the real values back. Numbers that the AI has recalculated are converted back as well.
Zecretly reads the text of your files and looks for details that point to people and clients.
Names and company names become placeholders such as [PERSON_1]. The same name gets the same placeholder everywhere.
Addresses, email addresses and phone numbers.
IBANs, Swiss social security (AHV) numbers, UID and customer numbers. Swiss details are a focus.
Amounts, quantities and dates, including amounts with apostrophes such as 7,080. Depending on the level they are shifted or replaced with placeholders.
On the Strong level the arithmetic stays consistent: an AI can keep calculating with the values without seeing the real ones.
Amounts and quantities are shifted with a secret factor. The same factor applies across the whole case file, so totals and shares still add up.
Dates are shifted by a few days, by the same span across the whole case file. The gaps between dates are preserved.
When you restore, Zecretly divides numbers that the AI has recalculated by the factor again. The factor itself stays on your computer.
All files that sit directly in the same folder form a case file.
The files of a case file share placeholders, factor and date shift. That way an AI may mix placeholders from several files in one answer.
Subfolders and each protection level form their own case files. A renamed or moved folder starts a new one.
A case file accepts new files for 30 days from the first file. After that a new one begins in the folder. The older one can still be restored.
Text that you protect with the shortcut has its own key.
Zecretly works with the files you use every day.
The protected copy sits next to the original, and the restored file has the original format again.
PDFs are read as text. The layout is lost in the process. Scanned PDFs without a text layer are not read reliably.
Email in .eml and .msg format.
Protecting and restoring run locally. Zecretly itself does not need the internet.
The mapping between placeholders and real values is stored encrypted (AES-256-GCM) in the folder %USERPROFILE%\.zecretly.
After 30 days without use, Zecretly deletes the mapping the next time it starts. In the settings you delete case files immediately.
Zecretly accesses it only when you press Ctrl+Alt+Z or click Copy in Zecretly.
What Zecretly cannot do. Zecretly does not catch every value. Paraphrases, text inside images and scanned PDFs without a text layer are not read reliably, and with PDF the layout is lost. Look at the protected copy before you upload it.
Privacy begins before you share.
